According to NIH studies, although cancer patients are not physically alone, they feel lonely. This is because their loved ones struggle to express their emotions due to the shock of the diagnosis, creating an emotional and communicative block that prevents them from putting into words what they feel towards the patient. As a result, the loneliness patients experience ends up negatively affecting the progression of their disease.
Studies also show that the brain areas responsible for facial expressions and language are interconnected, meaning facial expressions are a language themselves. This is why, using facial recognition, we can easily understand what someone is feeling without them saying a word.
For this reason, we've developed Unsilenced Words, the first AI-powered software that integrates facial recognition and natural language processing to detect the feelings of loved ones towards cancer patients and help them express the emotions cancer silences by putting them into words through a data-based process that integrates facial recognition, natural language processing and a generative language model.
